Sedikit pemahaman tentang linguistik

Hi ... guys.

In my post this time I want to share a little about what I know about linguistics after I read several articles about linguistics.

1. Linguistic meaning

First we will discuss what is linguistics? So, the word linguistics actually comes from the Latin lingua which means 'language'. So, Linguistics is the science of language or the science that makes language the object of its study.

Linguistics is often called general linguistics. That is, linguistics does not only study a language, but also the ins and outs of language in general, which in French terminology is called langage. Linguistic experts are called linguists. The father of modern Linguistics is Ferdinand de Saussure (1857-1913). His book on language, entitled Course de Linguistique Generale, was first published in 1916.

In the scientific world, it is not only linguistics that takes language as the object of its study. Sciences or other disciplines that also study language include: literary science, social science (sociology), psychology, and physics. What distinguishes linguistics from these sciences is the approach to the object of study, namely language. Literature approaches language as an art container. Social science approaches and views language as a tool of social interaction in society. Psychology approaches and views language as a psychological birth. Physics approaches and views language as a natural phenomenon. Whereas linguistics approaches and regards language as language or the form of language itself.

Linguistic Benefits

Next is the linguistic benefit in human life. Do you know that linguistics has benefits in our lives, even though sometimes we are not aware of it? Thus, Linguistics provides many direct benefits to people who are involved in language-related activities such as linguists, language teachers, translators, dictionary compilers, textbook composers, and politicians. Linguistic benefits include:

1. Linguistic: help complete and carry out their duties in language inquiry.

2. Language teacher: train and teach language skills.

3. Translator: helps in getting good translation results.

4. Dictionary compiler: helps in compiling a complete and good dictionary.

5. Compilers of textbooks: help in choosing words and composing the right sentences.

6. Politicians: help in their activities to communicate with many people
